One myth is that exercise is bad for diabetics. Unfortunately this is a very harmful rumor. In reality exercise is very good for diabetics and is quite necessary for them. Exercises should be done gradually and without too much exertion all at once.
Another myth is that diabetes can be contracted, that it is contagious. This often causes ill treatment of diabetics. It can adversely affect a diabetics social life. Diabetes is not at all contagious. One more incorrect myth is that diabetes result in cold and cough.
Another common myth is that diabetes causes brain haemorrhage. This is absolutely incorrect. When diabetics fast they may suffer from severe headache. This is quite different from brain damage. One other myth about diabetes is that fruits are to be avoided by a diabetic. This is incorrect. Many fruits are good for diabetics. However, your physician should be consulted on this.
There are a lot of myths surrounding diabetics. There should be more information dissemination on the subject so that diabetics can live better, and it starts with you.
