Minimizing Diabetic Complications
There are two types of diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2. Both result in either a life of extreme care for the body and mind or one of suffering. 5 percent of the Earths population is affected by diabetes. Although diabetes cannot be cured, it can be prevented and like the adage says, prevention is better.
Diabetes results in a number of other problems than just the sugar levels. Diabetics may develop heart disease, blindness, gum problems and kidney failure. Proper management of this illness is the key to living happily.
If you have diabetes you are much more likely to have a stroke/heart attack. Feet infections are possible as well. To understand diabetes, let me give you an understanding of its relation with sugar levels. Sugar below 100 means no diabetes. If it is between 100 and 125 it is prediabetes and 126 or above means diabetes. Take your diabetes tests regularly.
One way to keep blood sugar low is daily exercise. 30 minutes a day or 10 minutes thrice a day are necessary. Reducing your sugar by 1 percent means a reduction in problems by 40 percent. Skipping meals is unhelpful as food is a signal for the pancreas to secrete insulin and for the liver to stop producing sugar.
If you consume alcohol, beware! Diabetes drugs do not mix well with alcohol. So if you want to live a good life even with diabetes remember to take the precautions mentioned in this article. Happy living!
