Personally Checking Diabetes Blood Sugar 1
Diabetes is one of the most widespread and debilitating illnesses around today. Diabetes care involves exercise, diet care and medication. It also needs you to take good care of your sugar levels. For this a regular checkup of blood sugar level is required. This lets you know if your efforts at diabetes control are bearing fruit or are in vain.
Checking the blood sugar used to be a tedious process with one having to go to the clinic to get the tests done. Now however, it is possible to personally get a blood check done. Personally checking the blood sugar can be done in two ways – the Finger stick method and the Noninvasive method.
With the Finger stick method, you need to prick your finger with a lancet, so that you draw just a drop of blood. The blood can be drawn from your forearm as well. A blood glucose meter is used for reading the sugar level.
Consult with a doctor to choose a meter for you. Checking for diabetes with this method should follow the following routine. After cleaning your hands with warm water and drying them, wipe your finger with alcohol. Let the blood accumulate in the finger by holding it below the waist. Keep a clean strip ready. After drawing blood with the lancet, put a drop on the test strip. Then follow the instructions of the blood sugar meter manual and write down the results.
