Diabetes Prevention Explained
Nobody knows how you get diabetes, not science and not religion (except the karma theory, perhaps). They say there is an interaction of two things that results in diabetes. One part of the answer seems to lie in your genes. The other part is how you use or abuse the predisposition given by these very genes.
Briefly there are two types of this illness. These are Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes. Type 1, also known as juvenile diabetes occurs in people below 25 generally. The other type of diabetes is more common and is being viewed as an epidemic nowadays.
There are two aspects to preventing diabetes – diet and exercise. Eating the right food as well as exercising may help prevent the onset of diabetes.
It is observed that Type 2 diabetes patients are generally overwieght or obese. There seems to be a connection between wieght and diabetes that is as yet unexplained. It seems that excess fat stresses out the insulin by increasing it’s work and thus makes this process ineffective. One way to diet for diabetics is by following the diabetic food pyramid. Another often told aspect of the diabetics diet is to avoid simple carbohydrates and take complex carbohydrates. Eat about 5 small meals a day rather than 3 large ones.
The other aspect of diabetes prevention is exercise. Exercise reduces blood sugar. It is important to consult an expert before beginning and exercise regime. A proper combination of diabetes and exercise can help you avoid those sugar blues. Wish you happy healthy living!
