Diabetes is a disease that affects about one in fourteen people in the USA. It is a serious condition that calls for a complete change in lifestyle.

Diabetes Mellitus Symptoms

There could be small tell tale signs that you have diabetes. You perhaps may urinate more than is normal. You may feel pangs of hunger or thirst. Sudden, unexplained loss of wieght, a higher level of tiredness, feeling on the edge and having blurred vision are other signs of this disease. If you are careful and get yourself diagnosed early, you stand the chance to live a long healthy life.

The Connection Between Diabetes and Insulin

Diabetes is a condition when the body cannot make or use insulin properly. Due to this carbohydrates cannot be properly converted into energy. Two common tests for diabetes are the FPG or Fasting Plasma Glucose and the OGTT or the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test.

Why Diabetes Occurs

There is no surety of why diabetes occurs. However overwieght people are at risk. So are those that do not exercise. There is a genetic cause of diabetes. If you have a high risk of diabetes, it is a good idea to consider changes in lifestyle.

The Diabetic Life

Although genetics cannot be altered, lifestyle can. Those with a higher diabetes risk should exercise more and eat healthily. Although it requires some will power to implement the changes in lifestyle, it is well worth it.
