Avoiding Diabetes

Diabetes is an epidemic in America today. There are hundreds of thousands of people who get affected by it each year. It is now one of the top 10 killers. This despite the fact that it is non contagious.

So how do you get diabetes? Studies point to the link between wieght and diabetes. Diabetics are generally overwieght and overwieght people stand a higher chance of getting this illness.

Let me explain the mechanism through which this illness affects people. Overwieght people usually have a higher calorie intake. As a result there is a higher quantity of insulin produced to regulate the sugar. Either the insulin producing cells burn out, or the cells that burn sugar with insulin burn out.

As a result the body experiences fatigue due to the fact that it cannot use sugar, thirst due to an effort to remove sugar from the body by taking in water and excess urination as a result. Some of the offshoots of diabetes are gangrene and blindness.

Avoiding diabetes must involve exercise and a regulated calorie intake. By taking in less calories, less sugar is required to get burned off. So if you want to avoid diabetes, watch that scale!
