Diabetes Cooking

What kind of food should be cooked for diabetics. Often it is advised to diabetics to eat in moderation. Let us go into a bit of depth into Diabetes cooking.
Diabetes cooking should follow a simple principle. “Cook food that has complex carbohydrates and avoid foods that have simple carbohydrates”. The reason for this principle is that simple carbohydrates get easily converted into stuff that the insulin cannot burn off, while complex carbs require more work, burning off more fats.
Anything too sweet like cakes, ice cream, fruits, starchy veggies, breads etc. have simple carbs. These are to be avoided. Meal planning is essential to a good diabetes diet. Eat at regular intervals and do not skip meals.
Now for some foods that are good subsitutes for diabetics. Bacon -substitute with canadian bacon, turkey bacon or smoked turkey. Butter – applesauce or prune puree. Eggs – Eggwhite. Cream cheese- low fat variety. Ground beef – chicken or turkey. Mayonnaise – low fat variety.
