Preventing Insulin Resistance

America is experiencing a widespread increase in insulin resistance. Lack of exercise, junk food and a stress filled lifestyle are to blame. There are certain things that can be done to prevent Type 2 Diabetes. Health is the birthright of everyone and by following these simple tips, you can stop diabetes in its tracks.

Exercise to prevent diabetes. Even thirty minutes of light exercise 5 times a week is enough. You could walk, jog, swim or exercise in another way that is enjoyable to you. This works for both people who are already diagnosed with diabetes and those who may be prone to it. Avoid eatables that are harmful to you. These include processed foods of all kinds – soft drinks, processed sugars and such other harmful chemicals.

Now here is what to eat — fruits, veggies and whole grains. These help the body by causing sugar to be released only gradually. Eat the “good fats.” These include natural fats like those found in tuna and salmon. These are beneficial for cholesterol levels. Flax seed oil is another helpful fat found in nuts.

Add the right minerals to your diet. Consult your doctor or dietician on which ways your body can get the following minerals – through a good multi-vitamin or through natural foods. These minerals are chromium, magnesium, manganese, vanadium, B3, B6 and B12. With the right steps you will be on your way to a healthy life free from the ill effects of diabetes.
